The Best Turkish Rugs Originate from Altinkum

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Apart from fragmentary and damaged examples, actual early Altinkum Property For Sale of that kind from before 1600 are exceedingly rare outside the museums specializing in historic rugs and textiles, and when they do appear on the shopping mall they command prices that even museums can no longer afford. that development is difficult to juncture, but it probably came about early in the eighteenth century and continued into the nineteenth. the Yuruks of Eastern Altinkum, the Konya and Karapinar rugs of Central Altinkum, and the Melas and Bergama rugs of the western Anatolian region. that last strain is in specie recognised by its palette and designs.

The original aspect of the Canakkale design is its combination of the star Ushak scheme with Holbein medallion elements. The border consisting of radial clusters of four serrated leaves is afresh an early brand attested among the oldest extant Ottoman rugs

Within such production Bergama rugs have a special lodge as of the alpine quality of their weave and the purity of their design, which has remained faithful to the types documented in Renaissance painting right into the nineteenth century, if not postliminary.Antique Bergama Turkish RugThe case shown here (40792) reproduces the so-alarmed Ghirlandaio sort, so named through they were depicted by the numerous Italian master Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494).

Using Your Cell Phone in France

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Sony Ericsson GSM phones are great because they provide you with international roaming which means you can save a lot of money on call charges. All you have to do is put a SIM card for the country you’re visiting into your phone and you’ll be able to make calls to the US at local rates.

If you’re planning a vacation in Europe this year it’s well worth considering a GSM phone, and if you’re due for an upgrade anyway now’s the time to do it. If you’re not sure where to start then try having a look online – there are some very informative websites which will explain the technology a lot better than I can.

Now, if you’re going to France you can also use your phone to take a few landscape photographs. It really is a beautiful country, and you’ll be the envy of all your friends when they see you strolling along the Dordogne Valley. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy including walking, cycling, and even hot air ballooning, to name but a few.

If you’re stuck for ideas on where to go and what to do I suggest you buy a France travel guide which can provide you with plenty of starting points for your own French tour. These little pocket guidebooks are excellent value for money with lots of ideas for places to visit, from the well-known attractions to the slightly more unusual. For a non-touristy vacation how about booking rooms in a stone cottage set deep in the heart of the Auvergne region ? This is one vacation where you’ll have to brush up on your French language skills if you want to converse with the visitors – most of them actually come from France and you’re unlikely to come across many people who can speak English. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility Auvergne is definitely the place to be.

How to Visit San Francisco without Breaking the Bank

Friday, February 20th, 2009

San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the United States. Anyone who likes to travel should take the time to see it, but the idea can be daunting because it’s one of the more expensive cities too. It is possible to visit San Francisco on a budget, you just need to do a little planning ahead.

The first issue is to find cheap airline tickets . The least expensive time to visit San Francisco is from October to March. Fortunately, San Francisco has a mild climate and the weather is still good during those months, but you’ll find a lot fewer tourists to trip over and prices will be slightly lower. So will the prices for airline fares. Your best bet for those is to look online at discount airlines’ websites in the middle of the night, and check every night until you find one you like. For some reason airlines run discounts at strange hours when they think no one is looking. If you’re aware of this you can take advantage of some unbelievable fares. JetBlue is one airline that goes to San Francisco and they also frequently run promotional fares. If you see an online ad for JetBlue for tickets to San Francisco from your city at a very low price, jump on it because these specials go super fast.

The next step is to find cheap San Francisco hotel rooms , which isn’t quite as easy. The good news is that hotels often run specials in the off season as well. In February you can find a hotel near Union Square (a great starting point for your explorations of San Francisco) for less than one hundred dollars a person per night. This price won’t get you luxury but it will get you clean, safe, well-located accommodations with more privacy than a hostel would offer.

A good thing about cheap hotels in San Francisco is that they often offer complimentary breakfasts, which will save you money on eating out. One bad thing about them is that they all advertise proximity to Fisherman’s Wharf, which is the biggest tourist trap in California. Avoid the Wharf and visit areas of the city where you can get a more authentic experience for less money.

The Top Ways to save Money on Your Ski Vacations

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

The English financial system started to tank many months ago and it doesnt seem determined to recuperate shortly. The economic crisis, paired off with the historic low of the Pound compared to the euro, and the yearly snowboarding holiday gets to look like much more of a luxury than usual.

This season skiers have been returning home from the skiing vacations in the French Alps with tales about the superior ski conditions as well as the extortionate costs in ski resorts with costs up 31 percent compared to last year. The more cheering tidings is that there’s lots of reduced skiing vacations on offer, that in a lot of instances are offsetting the growth in costs in the ski resorts. None the less it is time to be money sensible. Luckily weve put together a top 5 to economising on this year’s Chamonix skiing break.

1. Shop in the valley instead of the ski resort if you’re on a self catered holiday
2. Go self catering
3. Eat in town instead of on the mountain if you must have a sit down meal at lunch
4. Discounted chalet holidays with breakfast dinner and wine included on all but one day
5. Ski close to home – even with the strength of the Euro a week’s ski trip in France will cost you less than a trip across the pond
